Chinese is a subject which many children find difficult to learn and thus, have very little interest in. We aim to help children develop an interest and love for the language. When children are interested, they will naturally be motivated to learn.
At the Pre-Nursery and Nursery levels, teachers will focus more on oral communication through interactions, play, rhymes, songs and stories. This is to generate their interest as well as to help children gain confidence in their mastery of the language.
At the kindergarten levels, greater emphasis is placed on the learning of basic strokes, reading, writing and proper pronunciation of words. K2 children will be taught hanyu pinyin in term 3 and 4. Children will also be introduced to simple idioms and Chinese nursery rhymes. As they learn the stories behind the idioms and rhymes, they will develop more interest and understanding of the Chinese culture.
