The Life Bible-Presbyterian Church has been very blessed by God with more than 450 students attending Sunday School each Sunday. We thank God for the Christian education provided by the church for all ages, as young as 18 months. As children of God, let us continue to abide in God’s Word in Psalm 119:11 which says, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee”, so as to lead Godly lives and be aflame for Christ.
As Proverbs 22: 6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it”,let us encourage our children to attend Sunday School each week for a time of learning God’s Word. The Primary Department in Life Church Sunday School commences each Sunday by praising God with songs at 9.30 a.m. at the Greek & Hebrew Room. The children sing wholeheartedly and prayerfully before they go to their respective classes for their Bible lessons. The Accent Bible Curriculum that our department adopts has helped the children to learn more about the character of God, and who He is to them. On top of that, the Westminster Shorter Catechism serves as a means in which doctrine is taught to the children in a manner which is suitable to their level of understanding.
We thank and praise God for 23 dedicated teachers who serve Him in this ministry. It is our desire to nurture the children spiritually in the Lord that they may come to know Him as their personal Lord and Saviour one day. It is also our prayer that the young ones in our care will grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ through the weekly teachings from the Westminster Shorter Catechism, the learning of Bible Truths from the Accent Bible Curriculum, and through the various activities prepared by our Sunday School teachers.
Apart from weekly lessons, the department also participates in special events in the church. Just last December, the children from both the Primary and Junior departments jointly put up a skit to narrate the Christmas story, at the Sunday School Christmas Gospel and Praise event. The children practiced hard to memorise the songs and their lines in preparation for the skit. We thank God that the event was well attended by over 300 children and more than 200 adults. After the skit, the children proceeded to the Chinese Service Hall, where a short devotion was given by Sister June Lim which reminded everyone of the true meaning of Christmas. Children from both departments, together with their parents, gathered for a time of fellowship and fun through games and food thereafter. It was a most blessed time of fellowship, as teachers and parents could get to know one another better, in an informal setting.
The year ended with the annual Sunday School Prize Giving, as a means to encourage those who have been coming faithfully each week. There is much to thank God for indeed, for His manifold blessings on the Sunday School in 2010. As we begin yet another year of the study of God’s Word in the Sunday School, we look forward expectantly for what the Lord has in store for us in the year 2011!
So once again, if you have children aged 18 months to 8 years old, we encourage you to bring them to join us every Lord’s Day, to praise God through songs, learn and study God’s Word together!
We look forward to seeing your children with us!

Below are testimonies by Sister Fiona Lee and students from the Sunday School:
Pre-Nursery Sunday School in Year 2010
It has been a joy to teach in the Pre-Nursery Sunday School. Last year, we had many children and they were mainly boys! The children were from 18 months to 3 years old. Needless to say, many of them suffered from ‘separation anxiety’ in the beginning, but thank God, after a while (with loads of crying and hugs of assurances), most were confident to be on their own as they became more comfortable with their teachers and friends. We always have some ‘free play’ in the beginning to help the children feel more at ease. This is followed by a time of singspiration led by Sisters Eunice or Grace. During this time, the children sing many praise songs to worship God, give their offering and pray to their Father in Heaven. It is heart- warming to see the little ones sing with much enthusiasm and actions! One of our teachers would then take over to tell the Bible story, which is usually short and yet captivating to capture the short attention span of the children. We thank God for helping the teachers to tell the Bible stories in a simple manner that allows the children to understand who God is and what He is like. My own children had gone through the Pre-Nursery Sunday School and I see how they had benefited from singing praises to God and listening to Bible stories from an early age. I would encourage parents whose children are between 18 months to 3 years old, to bring your children to Sunday School. We meet every Sunday from 9.30 to 10.30am in the kindergarten room with the green doors. Hope to see you there!
