Testimonies of Saints
No Less Than A Miracle
by Mr Jason Foo
Oct 2005
Dear fellow-believers...
We write this testimony, to once more re-affirm the
Marvellous and Wonderful Grace of our Lord and Saviour.
It was nary 8 months ago, that I recall being in a
plane bound for home. I had left Brisbane with no idea if I was to
return only to be faced with funeral arrangements or if I was to have to
prepare for anything “worse”.
On the 22nd of Feb this year, my mum Mrs Catherine
Foo Eng Leong had a ruptured blood vessel in her brain, - an aneurysm -
often a life-threatening and otherwise debilitating condition.
Without turning this into a long conte, I would just
like to testify of God’s goodness. I would actually hesitate to only
speak of God’s goodness ONLY in the light of the present day where mum,
having escaped near-death, is doing remarkably well, all Praise to our
great Master-Physician! I truly also want to thank God for the more and
most difficult times from the beginning, when we truly were fearing for
mum’s life and well-being. We all know that God doesn’t allow us to be
tested beyond what we can handle - and throughout the 6 initial months
after mum’s diagnosed condition, we constantly were reminded of His
sovereign hand, and the fact that in His higher will, he had allowed
this to happen.
Turning the hospital into our home, my family spent
many nights praying with mum, and together with many church brethren
also (even those who previously didn’t know my mum), we appealed to our
Heavenly Father to carry mum through this time of trial.
I even recall (very early on) petitioning to our Lord
to allow mum to see her 60th birthday in May, and lo and behold, the
Lord was gracious to not just answer in the affirmative, but confirmed
His good work as we saw mum heal well. At the Ang Mo Kio Rehab Hospital
our relatives who came to shower God’s love on mum were able to bear
witness our Lord’s mercy as they celebrated that special day with a
much-uplifted and ambulant lady who was well on her way to a good
recovery.
Considering the fact that mum is a survivor of NPC*,
on a larger scale many people would be considered “lucky” to have even
survived such an ordeal. We know for sure there is no “luck” where God
deals with us, because our lives are completely in His guiding and
loving sovereign hands. Indeed today, it is a far cry from day one,
where instead of being hooked up to life support machines, mum can once
more stroll into the church sanctuary to offer up her thanks and praises
to the one True God who has given us life, and who also preserves us
therein. This can be considered no less than a miracle - God’s miracle,
for nothing is impossible with Him.
Needless to say, much thanks, as always, are due to
our Pastors, Elders, Ladies’ fellowship, brethren and one and all who
have been there with us, for us, and praying also especially, helping to
uplift us all through the one common cord we have in our Lord Jesus
Christ. May we continue to always seek Him, strive to be as faithful as
He is to us, and all this in spite of fair times or foul.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Psa 115:1
