Scripture: Philippians 2:5-11
- He is fully God -“Who, being in the form of God…” (2:6)
- He became fully man - Took upon Him the form of a servant…made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man….” (2:7,8)
- He humbled Himself -“Made himself of no reputation” (2:7)
- Him became Man was no accident (Galatians 4:4-5)
- He kept the law perfectly to make us righteous (Romans 5:19)
- His shed blood has the power to cleanse our sins (cf. Hebrews 10:4)
- He understands us (Hebrews 4:15).
- Obedient unto death
- “Even the death of the cross” (2:8)
- The cross was shameful and painful — yet chosen willingly (Isaiah 53:7)
- Jesus bore our sins in our place (1 Peter 2:24)
- No limit to what God will do to demonstrate His love - “For he shall save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21)
- God exalted His Son
- “Given him a name which is above every name” (Philippians 2:9)
- Every knee will bow (Philippians 2:10–11)
- A personal response is required
- Bow now in worship and be saved, or bow later in judgment
Offering for Missions
We thank God that Lifers are very generous in their offerings towards missions. In terms of support, the church gives priority to our fully-supported missionaries and we would like you to be aligned with the church’s position when giving towards missions. Rather than giving offerings that are designated to specific individuals or mission stations, you are encouraged to give to the Missions Fund and let the Missions Committee disburse them as it sees fit. Your understanding on this will facilitate an informed stewardship of resources for the Lord’s work in missions.
