Text: 1 Peter 2:1-3
 
I. Hungering for God’s Word (2:2)
a. Believers are compared to newborn babes
b. The command: “Desire” the Word
c. The nature of the Word is:
     - Sincere (pure, unadulterated)
     - Rational and Spiritual
     - Eternal and life-giving
d. Purpose: “That ye may grow thereby”
 
II. Hold No Place for Sin (2:1)
a. Growth requires laying aside sinful attitudes
b. Relational sins to put away:
     - Malice
     - Guile
     - Hypocrisy
     - Envy
     - Evil speaking
c. Sin dulls our appetite for God’s Word and stunts our spiritual growth.
 
III. Having Tasted God’s Graciousness (2:3)
a. Spiritual hunger is motivated by personal experience
b. Christ is gracious, good, and kind
c. Tasting His grace deepens our desire for His Word

1. How would you describe your current appetite for God’s Word?
2. Are there any attitudes or relational sins that may hinder your spiritual appetite?
3. How does remembering God’s grace motivate you to seek Him more deeply in His Word?
