What is Your Life?
Life B-P Church Worship Service, 29th March 2026
Text: James 4:13-17

The Word of God is not against planning. The Bible instructs us to count the cost.

PLANNING IS NOT A SIN.
Planning is necessary. Planning regulates life.

James is not against the practice of making plans. However, he is against is the sin of presumption (see Luke 12:16-19).

PRESUMPTUOUSNESS IS A SIN.
Presumptuousness is a sin (James 4:13).

A. Presumptuousness is a sin because it omits God.
Presumptuousness is the absence of dependence on God (James 1:9–10).

B. Presumptuousness is Foolish.
Presumptuousness fails to consider our own ignorance (James 4:14).
  • The fact that we do not know the future should humble us (James 4:6, 10).
  • The fact that we do not know the future is God’s blessing for us (James 1:17).
  • The fact that we do not know the future should cause us to examine ourselves.

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE?
  • Life is brief (Psalm 90:4; James 4:14).
  • Life is insubstantial.
  • Life is futile (Ecclesiastes 1:2–3,14)
  • Life is Christ (Philippians 1:21).

CONCLUSION: WHAT IS MY LIFE?
  • To the unbeliever: To know the answer to this question – what is life? – We have to go to God who gives life (John 14:6; John 10:10)
  • To be Christian: Are you living for Christ?

Offering for Missions

We thank God that Lifers are very generous in their offerings towards missions. In terms of support, the church gives priority to our fully-supported missionaries and we would like you to be aligned with the church’s position when giving towards missions. Rather than giving offerings that are designated to specific individuals or mission stations, you are encouraged to give to the Missions Fund and let the Missions Committee disburse them as it sees fit. Your understanding on this will facilitate an informed stewardship of resources for the Lord’s work in missions. If you wish to contribute financially to missionaries, please indicate "DO Missions" in the reference field in your e-Offering via the Life Church PayNow QR Code. May the Lord bless your cheerful giving.
