Reflecting Christ, Redeeming the Time
Godly Wife and Husband
Life B-P Church Worship Service, 10th May 2026
Text: 1 Peter 3:1-8
Introduction
Marriage today is under great pressure, because
Many couples are not asking, “How can I glorify God in my marriage?” but rather, “How can I be happy? How can I be fulfilled?”
And when expectations are not met, relationships begin to crack.
In 1 Peter 3:1–8, the Apostle Peter gives us a beautiful and practical picture of what it means to be a godly wife and a godly husband.
The Word of God teaches about the purpose and higher calling of marriage:
The precise understanding and practising of the roles of godly wife and godly husband is crucial to living out the God-intended purposes of marriage.
1 The role of godly wife (vv.1-6)
1.1 Winning without words (vv.1-2)
1.2 The power of inner beauty (vv.3-4)
1.3 Hope in God (vv.5-6)
2 The role of godly husband (vv.7-8)
2.1 Living with understanding (v.7)
2.2 Showing honour as co-heirs (v.7)
2.3 Heeding a serious warning (v.7)
Conclusion
Understand and practise the shared calling: Unity, Humility and Love (v.8)
The source of power: Christ transforms; Grace empowers
Final challenge: Let our marriage reflect Christ and be a testimony
We thank God that Lifers are very generous in their offerings towards missions. In terms of support, the church gives priority to our fully-supported missionaries and we would like you to be aligned with the church’s position when giving towards missions. Rather than giving offerings that are designated to specific individuals or mission stations, you are encouraged to give to the Missions Fund and let the Missions Committee disburse them as it sees fit. Your understanding on this will facilitate an informed stewardship of resources for the Lord’s work in missions. If you wish to contribute financially to missionaries, please indicate "DO Missions" in the reference field in your e-Offering via the Life Church PayNow QR Code. May the Lord bless your cheerful giving.
