Reflecting Christ, Redeeming the Time
The Exceeding Great and Precious Promises
Life B-P Church Worship Services I & II, 2nd August 2026
Text: 2 Peter 1:1-4

I.    God’s Promises Begin with His Saving Grace (v. 1,2)

  1. Every believer has received the same “like precious faith.”
  2. It is “obtained” which means a “divine allotment” (Eph. 2:8,9)
  3. Jesus Christ is both God and Saviour, and His righteousness is imputed to all who believe (2 Cor. 5:21).
  4. Grace received produces peace that is multiplied as we grow in the knowledge of Christ.
  5. Every promise of God begins with His saving grace in Christ.

II.    God’s Promises Are Backed by His Divine Power (v.3)

  1. We are called to live the Christian life by God's power.
  2. God has given us everything we need for life and godliness.
  3. His power is experienced through knowing Christ—in His Word, prayer, worship, and in fellowship.
  4. We have been called to glory (God’s character and majesty) and virtue (moral excellence and Christlikeness).

III.    God’s Promises Bring Transformation (v.4)

  1. God's promises are exceeding great and precious because they come from a great God.
  2. We become partakers of the divine nature sharing God’s communicable attributes.
  3. God's promises enable us to resist the corruption and sinful desires of this world.

Questions

  1. How do Peter's words, “like precious faith with us”, encourage us in our walk with Christ?
  2. How can we experience and depend on His “divine power” in our daily lives?
  3. What does it mean to be “partakers of the divine nature,” and how does this contribute to our sanctification?

Offering for Missions

We thank God that Lifers are very generous in their offerings towards missions. In terms of support, the church gives priority to our fully-supported missionaries and we would like you to be aligned with the church’s position when giving towards missions. Rather than giving offerings that are designated to specific individuals or mission stations, you are encouraged to give to the Missions Fund and let the Missions Committee disburse them as it sees fit. Your understanding on this will facilitate an informed stewardship of resources for the Lord’s work in missions. If you wish to contribute financially to missionaries, please indicate "DO Missions" in the reference field in your e-Offering via the Life Church PayNow QR Code. May the Lord bless your cheerful giving.
