What is Faith?

Text: Hebrews 11:1-3

 

I. Faith is Assurance in Christ (v.1) 

a. Faith is the assurance (confidence), foundation, the title deed to God's promises.

b. A firm conviction of the unseen realities of God’s truth.

c. Trusting in God’s promises when the future is unclear.

II. Faith Gains Approval from God (v.2) 

a. Faith, not perfection, earned God’s approval.

b. Examples:

  • Enoch – walked with God (v.5)
  • Noah – built the ark by faith (v.7)
  • Abraham & Sarah – trusted in the impossible (v.8-12)

c. They were ordinary people with extraordinary trust.

III. Faith is Acceptance of God’s Truth (v.3)

a. Faith is accepting the unseen—God’s creation.

b. A reminder to exercise their faith and grow in their faith.

c. The world was spoken into existence by God.

d. Faith believes in a divine Designer and accepts His Word is true

 

Questions:

1. How can you cultivate a deeper assurance in Christ in your daily life, especially when the future feels uncertain or when you're facing difficult circumstances?

2. What does it look like for you to live a life that pleases God?

3. Are there areas in your life where you are struggling to accept or believe God’s truth, particularly in circumstances you cannot see or control? How can you strengthen your trust in God’s Word?

Offering for Missions
