Address by Sunday School General Superintendent

“Pray Fervently for the Sunday School”

“So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not
the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.” - 1 Thess 2:8

This morning at the 11am service, the Sunday School staff will re-dedicate themselves for another year of service in the Sunday School.

We are grateful for every one of our teachers who serve. They give of their time and energy, and avail themselves to be used by the Lord as they minister the Word. Much blessings abound to the church and to God’s people through the ministry of teachers who are faithful to their calling.

The Sunday School reaches out to more than 220 students each week. Every soul is precious, and teachers are called to give of their best to the Master in shepherding their charges and leading them to a closer walk with God. Much ‘heart-work’ is required – not just the diligent preparation of lessons, but a daily self-examination to draw close to the Lord and a resolve to set a good example for the students.

May God help every teacher to serve in full dependence on Him in the various classes they are called to teach. We pray that zeal for the kingdom and love for God’s flock will drive a passion to teach well and a desire to do better each lesson.

In the song item presented, the Sunday School staff will articulate the words “my prayer, my aim is higher ground”. Please join us in laboring in prayer for the Sunday School, that the Sunday School may reach more this year, build up more souls, and equip more of God’s people to serve Him in the coming years.

Offering for Missions

We thank God that Lifers are very generous in their offerings towards missions. In terms of support, the church gives priority to our fully-supported missionaries and we would like you to be aligned with the church’s position when giving towards missions. Rather than giving offerings that are designated to specific individuals or mission stations, you are encouraged to give to the Missions Fund and let the Missions Committee disburse them as it sees fit. Your understanding on this will facilitate an informed stewardship of resources for the Lord’s work in missions.
